The University of Glamorgan’s Schools and Colleges Liaison team attend more than 20 UCAS conventions, which run from March to July each year. These events are aimed at Year-12 students and provide an opportunity for your students to find out more about HE courses and institutions before they apply.
1. Be selective – make a short list of universities you are interested in and read up on them in advance. If possible, make a note of their stand number too.
2. Be prepared – think of what you need to know and write some questions. Don’t forget to ask about location, transport links, accommodation and the social life.
3. Don’t pick up too many prospectuses! You can always request them after the event.
4. Attend the talks. UCAS fairs have talks on all aspects of student life. Finance and student life are must dos!
5. Speak to students. Most universities will have current students on hand to answer questions. Don’t be shy – other students are one of your best sources of information!
