University can open up a whole range of exciting opportunities and experiences whilst pointing you in the right direction for the future you have always wanted.
Target will help you aim towards University by preparing you for Higher Education, helping you make the right choices and encouraging you to achieve your potential.
You will need to meet certain criteria in order to be eligible for Target. Find out if you are eligible for Target here
In order to reach your ultimate goal of going to University and take advantage of Target’s benefits we need you to demonstrate that you have the motivation, potential and ability to succeed at University by achieving the Target Requirements
How Target will benefit you?
Target offers you a range of benefits. Through meeting the Target requirements you will gain:
- Preparation for University
- Information to help you make the right University choices.
- A chance to develop your confidence to apply for University and help you overcome any difficulties
- Opportunities to meet University staff upon your chosen course and speak to our student ambassadors
- Regular e-newsletter containing information and advice upon University
- Access to the University of Glamorgan’s facilities
If you then apply to study at the University of Glamorgan, we will recognise what you have achieved through Target and offer you:
- A guaranteed place or interview, where relevant, on your chosen course (subject to fulfilling course entry requirements)
- Automatic entry for our Target High Achievers Reward, with the chance to receive a reward worth £1,000. Find out more here

What do you need to do?

- Register for Target – This needs to be done during the first year of your A-levels, BTEC or equivalent. We will then keep in touch with you throughout your studies to update you on Target and let you know about any upcoming events. Register here
- Before applying to University you will need to have achieved (or expect to achieve) the Target Requirements, find out more here
Once you have achieved the Target requirements, you will need to submit a Target Application Form (Target Application forms are available to download in English and Welsh, stamped and signed by your Head of Sixth Form/College Year Tutor, to confirm that you have met the Target requirements.
- Post your Target application form to us at least two weeks before you submit your UCAS application. Target Application forms are available to download in English and Welsh.
- Submit your UCAS form by the 15th January UCAS deadline.
- Once we have received both your Target application form and your UCAS application we will check that you have met the requirements and process your application/offer accordingly.
- During the first year of study at Glamorgan, we will let the successful candidates know that they have been awarded one of the Target High Achievers Rewards and arrange for them to receive their award.
