Schools/Colleges Liaison and Events Team, University of Glamorgan
The Schools/Colleges Liaison & Events Team at the University of Glamorgan has grown considerably over the past eight years and consists of eight staff:
Graduating from Oxford University, Cardiff University, University of Glamorgan, University of Bath and Swansea University with degrees in Ancient History, Psychology, English Literature, Welsh, Sport Development, German and Linguistics, the team possesses over 30 years experience in the HE sector. Away from schools liaison, members of the team have held a variety of roles and worked in a range of sectors including teaching, university planning, marketing, events management, health promotion, media, postgraduate recruitment, development of Welsh-medium courses and the team now even boasts a local Councillor.
The day-to-day work of the team involves school/college visits, UCAS fairs, Open and Applicant days, subject master classes and conferences, teachers’ and advisers’ events and producing HE awareness literature. In a typical year, the team organises, attends and delivers over 400 sessions in schools/colleges, 25 UCAS fairs, 100 careers evenings, 50 on-campus subject specific events, 20 open and applicant days and meets in excess of 40,000 prospective students.

Role: To manage and direct the University of Glamorgan’s student recruitment activity.
Mission: To develop and maintain strong reciprocal relationships with schools and colleges. To promote the benefits of HE to prospective students and the opportunities that exist at Glamorgan by providing excellent schools and colleges liaison services, open days and other visit opportunities.

Role: Responsible for working with all English-medium schools in Wales and England and organising events for schools/colleges to visit the University’s Faculty of Advanced Technology and Faculty of Health, Sport and Science.
Mission: To encourage prospective students to understand the benefits and advantages of progressing to Higher Education, as well as all the great things we have to offer at Glamorgan through schools visits, Open Days and by liaising with teachers.

Role: Responsible for managing the University’s Partnership, Target and Glam InSight schemes, delivering talks and events for sixth form students and organising visits for schools and colleges to the Faculty of Business and Society. Organises the annual Teachers’ and Advisers’ Conference and helps co-ordinate Glamorgan’s Open Days.
Mission: To encourage students to aspire to Higher Education through promoting the many benefits of going to University. To widen access to HE and strengthen the University’s partnerships with students, parents, schools and colleges through the University’s Widening Access Schemes.

Role: Responsible for working with Welsh-medium and bilingual schools and colleges and organising events for schools/colleges to visit the University’s Faculty of Advanced Technology and Cardiff School of Creative & Cultural Industries.
Mission: To encourage prospective students to understand the benefits and advantages of progressing to Higher Education and studying through the medium of Welsh at University, as well as promoting all the great facilities we have to offer at Glamorgan through school and college visits, Open Days and by liaising with teachers.

Role: Graduate Trainee who assists in organising on-campus events for schools/colleges. Also responsible for coordinating events, such as Open Days and Applicant Days that provide opportunities for prospective students, parents and schools/colleges to visit the University.
Mission: To organise inspirational and informative events for our various target audiences.

Role: Higher Education Adviser, representing the university at conventions and fairs in the South West of England
Mission: To enhance and support understanding about the transition to and through HE by endeavoring to ensure that potential students critically research course and lifestyle opportunities appropriate to their identified needs, aptitudes, circumstances and ambitions. Such support includes exploration of the appropriateness or otherwise of Glamorgan as their institution of choice.
