If you’re returning to study after a break, chances are that you’ve picked up a few other life commitments along the way. Lots of mature students have to combine study with their existing work or family life and we’ve got lots of options to help you get the balance right.
Many of full-time courses have a small amount of contact time – you might only spend a few hours a week in lectures and seminars. The rest of the time will be spent on independent study, meaning that you can fit your study around your other commitments.
We are experts in online learning and lots of your studying will be done through Blackboard, a virtual learning environment that lets you study anywhere, anytime. We’ll give you all the training you need to access virtual classrooms, tutorial groups and chat rooms online.
If you want to take things a little more slowly, many of our courses can be studied part-time. Or for the ultimate in flexibility, you can design your own degree through our combined studies scheme, choosing modules that suit your timetable as well as your career plans.
For lots of parents, returning to study is the first step to making a better life for their families. If you fall into this category, you might need to think about childcare while you study. If you’re studying full-time, you could get financial help with the cost of nursery or childcare. You will need to check your tax credits eligibility too.
If you’re studying at Treforest, our on-campus “Play Centre”: http://profile.glam.ac.uk/working/playcentre/ takes care of children between three months and five years old. If you’ve got older children at school, we’ve got a holiday play scheme for 4 to 12-year-olds during the school holidays. The University also runs Sports Camps for older children during the holidays where they can develop current skills or try new activities such as climbing or surfing.
