Life at Glamorgan

Travel

Part of student life is getting around from campus to home, to visit friends and to explore the city that you are living in. We have provided a brief guide to getting around the area if you would like a comprehensive guide please take a look at our travel for students page

As a student you are eligible for discounted travel and this is the perfect time to exploit it! Whilst having a car can be useful, you’ll find as a student that you can get around just fine without one – getting the bus, riding your bike or enjoying the scenery from the train is all part of the experience.

Public Transport

All of our campuses are easily accessible by public transport, and close to railway stations. Regular and frequent train services operate between Merthyr Tydfil and Cardiff, up to six times an hour at peak times. There are also frequent bus services between Pontypridd and Llantrisant, stopping outside the Treforest campus approximately every 15 minutes.

Cardiff Bus offers an excellent service within Cardiff; there are regular services across the city and suburbs to get you everywhere you need to go.

Parking

At the start of term there is very high demand for parking spaces at the Treforest and Glyntaff campuses, we would therefore recommend that you consider alternative arrangements to driving wherever possible. Car parking spaces for Treforest student halls are allocated on a lottery basis.

There is no student parking available at the ATRiuM and student halls in Cardiff do not offer car parking spaces, however public transport links are excellent within Cardiff and most areas are within easy walking distance.

Cycling

Cycling is a great way to get around and is a popular mode of transport in Cardiff. There are secure bicycle shelters available at all of our campuses, details of these and information about arrangements to purchase discounted bikes can be found on the travelling to campus pages.
