Commercial Services Office (CSO)

The Commercial Services Office (CSO) manages the services offered to external organisations by the University and acts as the commercial gateway to the University. CSO’s primary role is to focus on forming and developing links between the University and Employers to the mutual benefit of both.

We are committed to achieving provision that meets our mission statement:

Commercial activities that operate through CSO include training, consultancy, innovation and technology/knowledge transfer. Training and consultancy is delivered via UGCS Ltd, the commercial trading company of the University. A wholly-owned subsidiary, UGCS was established in 1992 with the mission to create income for the University (surplus is gifted at year end), thereby protecting the University’s charitable status.

The training portfolio is diverse; it covers management development, coaching and mentoring, project management and purchasing and supply management. Consultancy activity is wide ranging – clients include public sector organisations through to small SME‘s with consultancy projects ranging in scope and length.

On behalf of the University, the Knowledge Transfer team engages with clients across all sectors, developing long term working relationships for mutual advantage and strategic benefits.
CSO has an experienced team; between us we have significant experience of project and training delivery across all sectors and are sensitive to, and fully aware of, the benefits that happen and conversely the issues that can occur. We maintain a professional approach at all times and consistently add value to the delivery of academic, accredited qualification and short course delivery.
