About this course
As part of the University portfolio of Foundation Studies you may study for the Foundation Year in Civil Engineering. This will enable progression, dependent on level of attainment, to the first year of one of the Civil Engineering awards. The structure of this Foundation Year is primarily designed to develop your skills in mechanics and mathematics. These are the important subjects which will underpin your development throughout your undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering.
The remaining modules which make up the programme will help you develop your skills in Information Technology and independent learning. These areas are important, particularly in project work and group activities, which will be developed throughout your undergraduate studies. Such activities are a reflection of Civil Engineering and engineers often form part of multi-disciplinary groups where communication is a particularly important key skill.
