I have access requirements – can I have assistance during the open day?

The University aims to provide the widest possible access for people with a disability. If you have a disability (other than dyslexia), we recommend you have an informal discussion with a Disability Adviser before attending the Open Day. Please contact Student Services direct on 01443 654242 or e-mail studisability@glam.ac.uk.

I am travelling from outside the area. Can you recommend anywhere to stay close to the campus?

The University is located near to Cardiff where there is a huge variety of accommodation available to choose from. Details of local accommodation can found on our accommodation for visitors page.

I have an enquiry regarding applying to Glamorgan. Will there be someone from Admissions I can talk to about this?

I have applied through clearing. Will I still get a chance to see the campus?

If you have applied through clearing you will be invited to a separate event in August where you will have the chance to look around campus and meet our staff and current students.

Do I need to do anything before I arrive?

Because our Open Days are split across three campuses and activity relating to specific subjects only takes place at certain times during the day it is really important that you book in advance. You can do this by 08456 434 030 or completing the online form. We will then send you a personalised itinerary (with details of where and when to attend), a programme with all the other relevant information and a visitors guide with maps and directions to get to the University. It’s a good idea to make a note of any questions you would like answered and certain activities and talks you don’t want to miss.

Where do I go on arrival?

When you book we will let you know which campus to attend and when and where to go to register.

Will there be a chance to see the local area during my visit?

A If you are interested in studying a course taught at the ATRiuM campus, a guided tour of Cardiff is included in your programme. If you are interested in studying courses taught in Treforest or Glyntaff it is not possible to offer a local area tour because of the structure of the day. However, you will be given some information on the local area as part of your welcome, and staff will be more than happy to answer any questions you have.

I can’t attend for the whole day. Is this still ok?

Yes, if you are unable to attend an important session, you can always have a chat with one of our staff on the information desks who will be able to provide you with all the necessary details and answer any questions you may have.

I am unable to attend any of the Open Day dates. Can I visit at another time?

If you would like to visit the University but are unable to attend any of our Open Days, please contact us on 08456 434 030 to arrange for you to visit at a more convenient time.

Is there a bus which takes me between campuses?

On the day there will be a shuttle bus service between Treforest and Glyntaff campuses but you should make sure you study the programme carefully and attend the correct campus for your subject as it is not always possible to get you between campuses in time for your activity. Although there is no shuttle bus to the ATRiuM campus in Cardiff, National Rail services are conveniently located close to all three campuses.

How do I know which campus I should go to?

When you book your open day place, we will let you know which campus to attend.

What if I arrive at the wrong campus?

When you book, we will let you know which campus to attend. If you arrive at the wrong campus, staff will be able to direct you to the correct campus (if you have driven) and there will also be a shuttle bus service between the Treforest and Glyntaff campuses throughout the day. It may not always be possible to get you between campuses in time for your activity, so you should check the programme carefully to make sure you attend the correct campus. If you have any concerns you can always contact us on 08456 434 030 to double check.

What if I am interested in courses on different campuses?

We suggest you check the programme carefully – as activity is staggered throughout the day, you might be able to fit both in. If a clash is unavoidable, don’t worry, make sure you attend the campus where activity relating to your first choice subject is taking place and you can then visit the other campus as staff are available throughout the day and will be able to give you all the necessary information. Alternatively, you may attend more than one open day to ensure that you don’t miss out on any information.

What will I see on a campus tour?

During the day you will have the opportunity to visit our brand new Halls of Residence, the Sports Centre, the Learning Resources Centre and our Computer labs. I have to cancel at the last minute. Do I need to tell anyone?

Are all the Open Days exactly the same?

We try to ensure that our Open Day experience is the same at each event – therefore regardless of when you attend you should be able to find out about our courses, have a look around our modern campus and meet our tutors and current students. However, as we are constantly looking to improve the experience you receive and because we are investing £130 million in our campuses, the programmes are likely to vary slightly throughout the year as developments progress.

Will I have a chance to give feedback on the Open Days?

Yes. 95% of last year’s respondents gave Glamorgan’s Open Day top marks, but we’re always looking to improve. Following the event we ask all visitors to complete a simple on-line questionnaire plus you can talk to any of staff on the day if you have any specific comments.
